What’s Next?

Now, it’s time to start getting the most from your Miami Children's Health Plan coverage! Use the 6 simple steps in the checklist below to get the most out of your benefits:

  1. Know the name of your Primary Care Provider (PCP)

One of the first things you will need to do as a new member is to choose a PCP. You will see your PCP for regular check-ups, shots (immunizations), or when you are sick. Your PCP will also help you get care from other providers or specialists. This is called a referral. You can choose a different PCP for each family member or you can choose one PCP for the entire family. If you do not choose a PCP, we will assign a PCP for you and your family. You can choose or change your PCP at any time by calling Member Services at 1-844-243-5187, TTY: 711.

  2. Schedule your first PCP visit.

You’ll want to see your PCP, even if you are not sick, to get set up as a new patient. Your PCP needs to get to know you and your health history. The more your PCP knows, the better he or she can help you.

  3. Learn about your pharmacy benefits.

Miami Children's Health Plan covers a full range of prescription medications. Your doctor will use the Prescription Drug List (PDL) to choose the best medicine to treat you. Always ask the doctor if your prescription is covered by Miami Children's Health Plan. You do not have a co-payment for drugs we cover. Miami Children's Health Plan also covers some non-prescription medications and items through our over-the-counter expanded benefit.

  4. Save the Telehealth information.

As a Miami Children's Health Plan member you can talk to a nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Store 1-844-865-7922 in your phone or post it where you can see it. Call the 24/7 Nurse Line anytime of the day or night. You can call when you have any medical question or for help with any symptoms you are having.

Or use Teladoc when you can’t see your regular doctor. It connects you to a doctor, therapist, or specialist by phone or computer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is great for common colds, flu, infections, anxiety, stress, and minor injuries. To learn more and set up an account to get started, visit or call 1-800-835-2362.

  5. Learn about your many expanded benefits.

Miami Children's Health Plan offers your standard Medicaid benefits and services. We also offer extra benefits at no cost to you. Including programs to help keep you healthy and to help you live a healthier life (like losing weight or quitting smoking). You can even earn rewards while participating in some of these programs. Learn more by saving a copy of the Member Handbook. And if you have questions or want to join any of these programs, please call us at 1-844-243-5187, TTY: 711

  6. Call us with questions about how to better manage your health.

If you have questions or concerns about how you can better manage your health, please call Member Services at 1-844-243-5187. We’re happy to work with you one-on-one!
